How to apply for an ETA?

An application for an ETA can be made to any of the Approval Bodies, designated by their respective Member States. The list of designated Approval Bodies is published in the Official Journal of the EC and the EOTA Central Secretariat can provide current details.

Using the designated Application Form annexed to the Common Procedural Rules for Requesting, Preparing and the Granting of ETAs, published in the Official Journal of the EC No. L 17 of 20.1.1994, a manufacturer or his agent established in the European Communities and specifically nominated by the manufacturer to act on his behalf, is entitled to make the application for an ETA to any of the members of EOTA, but not to more than one body at the time.

The Application Form must be accompanied by a description of the construction product, specifications, drawings and test reports, explaining in detail the subject under application and its intended use.

Once the application has been accepted by the Approval Body, the route described below has to be followed by all the other parties involved.
